Hot Toddies

Just thinking about hot toddies makes me warm! They are warm and spicy and a little sweet! Add a squeeze of lemon and wow!

I have been working on this recipe for a while. Sometimes I make a very simple version with just hot tea and bourbon. When I want to get all-fancy or serve hot toddies to guests, I break out this recipe!

What this hot toddy will do for you:

-Warm you up
-Soothe your throat
-Relax you (cuz it has the alcyhol)
-Support your Immune System (WHAT?!)
-Make you feel all adult-like
-Never gonna give you up
-Never gonna let you down

Ok those last 2 items are actually things Rick Astley will do for you but you get the point. There are benefits to drinking a hot toddy!

Let’s get into the recipe!

Hot Toddies for 2

Ingredients:
-2 cups brewed Organic Peach Ginger Tea or your favorite hot tea
-2 shots or 6 TBLS Bourbon
-1 TBLS honey
-1 slice of lemon cut into half moons
-2 drops Thieves Essential Oil (this supports the Immune System! Squeals!)

Directions:

Put a TBLS of honey, 1 drop of Thieves and 1 shot of bourbon into each glass. Add the tea and stir until well combined. Add 2 cinnamon sticks and a half moon of lemon. Put it in your face and share with a loved one!

Let’s talk about flexibility. You can use any tea you want. I like to use Peach Ginger and chai teas a lot but a plain black tea will work or your favorite decaf or herbal tea. Seriously I cannot think of one that will not work. You could even heat up some apple cider and use it in place of the tea. (drooooool)

Use what you have. You could use star anise or a few whole cloves instead of cinnamon sticks for a different flavor. What about an orange or apple slice or even a few cranberries instead of lemon?

There are so many choices for essential oils too. Like. So. Many. You could replace the lemon in this recipe with Lemon or Jade Lemon. Replace the cinnamon with Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil or Ocotea (it smells and tastes very similar)! You could replace the Thieves with Orange, Tangerine, Ginger, Clove, Peppermint, Nutmeg, Spearmint, Citrus Fresh (an amazing Blend) and I could go on! I would not do more than a total of 2 drops per hot toddy because essential oils are very concentrated. You don’t need much.

I can’t wait to hear all the wonderful combinations you come up with!
