what is a better Dry dog food Hills Science diet lamb and rice or Iams lamb and rice?

Answers:
Of the two, Hills is better..However, I wouldn't feed either of those..
We would have the same idea as you. You'll have to ask a dog really !
our pets like Hills but I think both Hills and Iams are equally nutritious, it depends which the dogs prefer. Perhaps a different one alternate weeks. Left-overs from our dinners are popular too, it is probably better to get meat from the butcher and cook it with rice. Some dogs like fish with rice.
I'm with Chetco, I wouldn't feed Hills nor Iams and Hills -is- the slight winner of "better" between the two.

Personally and professionally, I've been a fan of about a handful of products.

-Wellness
-Natural Balance
-Canidae
-Innova
-Merrick

Wellness and Natural Balance are both rated within the top 5 brands worldwide. They both are human grade products that utilize actual foods (ie.fresh human grade meats, carrots, apples, brown rice.yada yada) instead of filling the bags of 4 types of grains, pumping it up with "vitamins" (why add, when you can get straight sources?) and other things that most people should never know about.

If you're serious about wanting to feed the best foods, several things you can do: read the ingredients of the food (that's always numero uno. You'll know right off the bat what you're feeding your dog, not just the "brand".) ask breeders (Breeders because they have a product [the puppy] that shows you point blank what benefits or disadvantages of the food they're feeding their own.), pet retailers (Hey, that was me! :D) and trainers what they'd recommend. I don't suggest vets anymore as many of them fall into the monopoly the dog food business is really about instead of the true nature for every scientific finding. They've become biased to Hills and Iams because of the selling possibilities they have with vet diets.

-edit-
PS- Just a quick rhetoric to Mandy's preservative comment. Hill's also is packed with preservatives in the forms of BHA and BHT. Those of which have since been suggested -can- be the causes of several types of cancer in dogs. (No true, "I ain't lying" proof, of that though)
Science diet of the two, iams is no good its packed with preservatives which can be harmful for your dog.
There are many "good" dog foods available.
Main thing is the first two ingredients are meat, or meat by product.
Avoid fillers. They're just going to pass through your dog and not benefit him.
If both have the meat ingredients as the prime factor, there pretty much equal.
Helpful tips - watch the fecal matter of your dog, and how many times he goes per day. - look at the consistency to make sure it's not getting diarrhea.
If both foods seem to be the same - go with price, or what you might have a coupon for etc.
Sometimes giving you dog a new twist on regular food will make him feel better - like them, we wouldn't want to eat the same thing day after day.
Both of those foods are pretty much top of line as far as dog food goes, so It doesn't matter. I personally feed my dogs Iams.
